My iPod touch just froze and is unable to turn off or touch any apps. Can someone tell me what's happening and how I can use it again?

The iPod touch and iPhone occasionally freeze, and need to be reset. To reset an iPod touch or an iPhone, simply hold down the home key and the power key together for approximately 10 seconds until the screen goes black. At this point, the device resets, and regular functioning returns as soon as the restart is complete.
