On the body of the switch behind the dash right where it comes through the dash, there is a small spring loaded button. You will have to feel it. Push down on the button and the control know for the lights will pull out. On the face of the dash where the rod came out, there is a thin flat nut holding the switch to the dash. Unscrew this nut and the switch will come out. After installing the new switch, the knob and rod will just push in, you do not need to hold the button down on the switch. The button on the switch is about half the diameter of a pencil.
The button pushed down is the normal operating position , if the button is popped up the switch is tripped and no power is getting to your electric fuel pump . Or do you mean that the fuel reset light came on in your dash , you pressed the button down , and the switch did not reset ? I pushed the reset button down, it stayed down. no fuel, but the light is still on. What do i need to do?
My envoy did this also when the battery died. installed new battery and key came out.
The belly button origin came from a naval clamp. this new type of clamp was invented in 1860. It's shape was round and had 4 holes just like a button. After awhile the name just stuck. I have one of the belly button navel clamps in my collection. they are very rare because these were always thrown out.

where is the ect pwr button located on a 1997 avalon? the light came on and my husband assumed he must have pushed a button by mistake.
Change it? Dude, you're stuck with the one you came with. Sorry.
Have you checked the switch on the end of the brake rod, I have had mine stuck, and even came loose and out of place a few times over the years. it has a bezel ring that gest loose, and the switch is spring loaded. So look way up the pedal rod, up toward the top.
it is the break light switch attached to the arm on the break pedal one of the wires broke or came off. the switch turns on the break lights and deactivates the lock keeping the transmission in park.
