I heard that when breeding Bettas, The male will chase the female until they are in subjection. My new male Betta is really calm and hasn't chased her or flared up since I got him once! Is there something wrong? Any ideas or suggestions for breeding these fish?
A female Betta can spawn monthly if she is well looked after. She can produce around 200+ ova at each spawning and will be capable of doing this for around 12 months. Bettas only live around 2 years or so.
He certainly is not smart enough to be able to tell your sex. What he is doing is practicing and getting ready in case a female Betta comes along. It is just a sign that he is in good condition and ready to breed.
Y-E-S they can! Go to youtube and type betta fish doing tricks.
They may just not have been doing it right, especially if they haven't been breed before. Practice practice practice.
no he is not worth you are beautiful inside and out without him
A betta can swim wherever he wants and stay there. Do you mean he can't stay off the bottom? Does he keep sinking? Mine are doing this. It's a symptom of a handful of betta diseases
Your new betta is nervous. Some fish, including the betta, are quite intelligent. The fish is simply scared at the moment. Give it a week or so to get used to its new environment and it will stop doing this. Our bettas were skittish when we first brought them home, but now they come to the sides of their tanks when we get near them. Our female betta, who is in a 20 gallon community tank in our bedroom, actually rubs against my hand when I am doing tank cleaning. Just be patient, and your bettas will adjust and will warm up to you.
Gently squeeze the lower tummy and if something "pops out", it is male, if not, it is female. If you do not feel confident doing this, ask someone in a vet or pet shop.
its easy realy it depends about your age i am doing hairdressing and i went to college to do it. you learn betta there.x
you train by doing quests and dungeons... have fun ^^
If your betta has been doing anything lately such as spending long periods of time at the bottom of the tank, if your betta has a sudden gain in weight or loss in wieght, Also if their fins aren't moving (except when they are sleeping), and also if they swim at the top of the tank for about 3 to 4 hours
When betta fish flare their gills, it usually means that they want to show off; either to other fish, or to their owner. Sometimes, if you scare your betta fish, they will flare their gills at you just to let you know that they aren't afraid of you. if your betta fish flares their gills all of the time, you may just have a very aggressive fish.
