Technically, if your fence is on your property, then no, but if you want to keep the peace in your neighborhood then really think about whether the gate is disrupting your life or just a minor annoyance that you can overlook.
They can install a gate if they want to. They may want to do it for aesthetic effects, or to allow for repairs, or for any number of reasons. You have the right to complain if they trespass on your property but not if they install a gate in a length of fence. Perhaps they installed it so you can come over and visit without having to walk all the way around.

It is not possible to attach to a neighbor's fence unless permission is given by the neighbor. It is a good idea to get any agreement in writing for attaching to the fence.

Yes the gate can be installed without removing the fence. But if the company that installed the fence forgot to add the gate I highly doubt I would want them to come back and do the work.
A gate opens and closes, like a door. A fence partitions off pasture, crops, etc. and is not meant to be moved.
