Have you ever lied to them? Now, think about this and be honest with yourself. If you have lied to them many times or about something important, then they won't trust you not to do it again.

Perhaps you need to sit down with them and ask them to please tell you what you have done to lose their trust and what you can do to gain it back. Be prepared for them to tell you things you don't enjoy hearing. Just listen quietly and calmly.

If you think there is some case in which they are mistaken, ask them if you can say something to explain that instance. If they say yes, give a reasonable explanation without being argumentative. If they do not believe you, remain calm and ask them if there is some way you can correct any damage you may have done.

When you are finished talking about the past, ask them what you can do now and in the future to regain their trust. Tell them you realize that this is something that will not happen overnight, but that it is very important to you to have a good relationship and you need to know exactly what they expect of you. If they are vague, and say something like "stop lying," then you need to ask them how they will know if they do not put you to the test. This might mean allowing you to do something like borrow something and return it in good condition, or stay out until a certain hour and be home before that time.

The key is to remain calm and express yourself clearly. After all, what you really want to do is show them that you have matured and treat you accordingly. And then, of course, you have to honor their wishes and be sure that you do not do something that will make you feel you have to lie about it.

With good communication, and over time, they will begin to trust you again.
