How do you convert bifocal prescription to reading prescription?

You add the part of the prescription that called the Add to the part called the Sphere. If your prescription contains Cylinder or Axis those numbers stay the same. Example: Your prescription is Sphere -1.00 Cyl -0.25 Axis 090 Add +2.00. Your reading prescription would be Sphere +1.00 Cyl -0.25 Axis 090 with no add.

What does sphere 75 cylinder -3.00 axis 164 mean?

This prescription indicates a spherical power of -0.75, a cylindrical power of -3.00, and an axis of 164 degrees. It is a prescription for correcting astigmatism, a condition where the eye has difficulty focusing clearly due to an irregularly shaped cornea. The spherical power corrects for nearsightedness or farsightedness, while the cylindrical power and axis correct for the astigmatism.

What is cylinder in eyeglasses?

The cylinder is a measure of the astigmatism correction for each eye. Eyes that have astigmatism actually require lenses with two different focal powers. The two different powers are represented by the Sphere and Cylinder. The axis represents the orientation of the sphere power.

Can your astigmatism prescription numbers change from-1.00 cyl and 105 axis to plus 1.00 cyl and 015 axis in 2 years?

Since nobody qualified has answered this, I will speculate. I AM NOT AN EXPERT. I think the change in sign and the shift of 90 degrees are equivalent, and some examiners prefer to write it one way and others write it the other way. Did your sphere also jump by about -1 in the same time? Astigmatism is basically one correction in one direction and a different correction at a right angle to that. This is usually written as the one correction and the difference to be applied to make the other correction. Sphere -1 cylinder -1 axis 105 adds up to -2 along the 105 degree direction, and -1 along the 15 degree direction. A prescription of sphere -2 cylinder +1 axis 15 also adds up to -2 along 105 degrees and -1 along 15 degrees.

What does OD axis mean in eye prescription?

OD means right eye, the D is the abbreviation for "dextro" which is the Latin word for "right". Axis means the angle of the cylinder shape in the lens to correct for astigmatism.

If your optometry prescription is od sphere plus 75 cylinder -75 axis 92 OS sphere plus 1.00 cylinder -1.00 axis 92 what kind of glasses do you need?

It means you barely need them lol.. But seriously, You have a mixed astigmatism so you need toric contact lenses and a very interesting glasses prescription that i hope your optician will be able to make accurately. Whats your vision? 20/25? 20/30? You'd probably forget to take your glasses with you anywhere you go. You mostly need them while reading. I recommend you get the pair and just leave it by your computer which is probably the reason you went to the eye doc in the first place. When you get older you will need reading glasses much sooner then the rest of us with your script (assuming these arent reading glasses to begin with).
