My ps3 is only showing the background when opened what shall i do?

you can try to reset your ps3 picture by turning off you ps3 and turning it on while holding the button until you hear a second beep noise.
(this will reset your video settings so if its on HDMI it will go back to EXT)
If that doesnt work you should probaly call sony helpdesk about it
