My small breed female has a litter of pups and my large dog just had pups about a week ago The small female got one of the larger female's pups and killed it .Why would this happen?

Sometimes I think dogs can maybe sense that there is something wrong with the puppy. It is a common theme, maybe the puppy had a disease, illness, problem that you didn't get to know about. Then again, since you say-another- dog "got hold of it" perhaps that dog was jealous or stressed and got upset. It is apparently very common.
