Hemochromatosis is a serious condition. You need to make sure your spouse sees his physician regularly to track the condition. The phlebotimist only reduces the iron/red cell production. The condition is potentially fatal, especially if iron builds up in the liver and causes liver failure. If he is able to keep the condition under control and takes care of the condition he can expect a long and relatively healthy life.
