On My '97 3.9l I have a Idle Air Control Solenoid on the back side of the throttle body It has a plunger with a mushroom shaped end on it. It is held on by 2 Allen head screws. My truck kept stalling and not triggering the check engine light. I cleaned the carbon off of it once and the truck seemed O.K. then it started stalling again and I ended up replacing it. So far so good.
