The focus should be on creating an experience that is comfortable for your guests. You can offer an array of food, my opinion is if it is a dinner around the hours of 6-7 o'clock, something light can be served, you don't want your guest to go to bed with something real heavy on their stomachs. Finger foods are great! Remember your guest already ate through the course of the day, so in my opinion it is alright as long as it is light. My cousin had an evening wedding, we were served fruit, cheese and crackers on the terrace with a little bubbly. Then for dinner we had a light salad, and the normal home style served dinner, potatoes, gravy, vegetables and of course the meat was selected previous to the wedding, either roast beef or chicken. Don't forget if you do a heavy dinner, there is also dancing afterward. All that dancing, can help remove all that heaviness. ;)
