Many Oriental religions believe that the soul is reincarnated in different lives until one reaches a state of material withdrawl (often reached through meditation), when they die, the soul is in the eternal joy of Nirvana.
Some believe that there is no soul, and that nothing happens after death.
The Catholic church believes that righteous or innocent souls go to Limbo/Purgatory, like infants or "nice" non-Christians
