Prawns are found in many places, and not from a single country. Prawns are found in the waters of the Pacific, the Atlantic and the Indian ocean. They are fished and/or farmed by countries around the world. The main producers of prawns are China, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and India, where they are farmed extensively. However, many other countries also farm their own prawns. Australia, Canada, South Africa, Tanzania are just a few of the countries with substantial fresh prawn farms and fresh prawn trawling.
