All horses have 12 incisors at the front of their mouths for cutting food (grass mainly) and sometimes if the horse is not domestic then they are used to defend themselves against predators. immediately behind these incisors is a gap where, if ridden the bit is placed. behind the gap are 12 premolars and 12 molars also known as jaw teeth or cheek teeth. These teeth chew the food/grass before the horse swallows it. A horse can have 0 to 5 canine teeth also known as tusks and male horses quite often have a set of four canine teeth. Fewer than 28% of female horses (mares) have any canine teeth. Those that do normally only have one or two, and these may by only partially erupted. Between 13 and 32% of horses, split equally between male and female, also have wolf teeth, which are not related to canine teeth, but are vestigial premolars. Wolf teeth are more common on the uppper jaw, and can present a problem for horses in work, as they can interfere with the bit. They may also make it difficult during equine dentistry work to rasp the second premolar, and are frequently removed.

I hope this helps!!!
