The National Tree of Pakistan is Deodar (Cedrus deodara). The name'deodar' is derived from Sanskrit name 'devdar; meaning 'timbreof gods'.It is a species of cedar, native to the western Himalayain northern areas of Pakistan. It is a large evergreen tree reaching40-50 meters in height, with a trunk up to 3 meter in diameter. Ithas a conic crown with level branches and drooping branchlets. It hasneedle like leaves and is grown as an ornamental tree, much plantedin parks and large gardens for its drooping foliage. It is best inareas with mild winters.
