The PCM on a 2003 Neon is between the radiator and the transmission under the hood.

need diagram of how to install pcm in a 2000 mitsbishi galant

Powertrain Control Module

You could take the old PCM with you to the salvage yard. There is a sticker with a part number on the bottom or side of the PCM. You will need to remove the PCM to see it.

The pcm is located on the drivers side of car, by the radiator.

PCM internal failure.PCM internal failure.

If the Neon's are both the same year and have the same engine type then the PCM should swap out ok. If the engines are different then the PCM may not work properly.

PCM internal processor failure.PCM internal processor failure.

Return to shop that changed the pcm, sounds like they may have created the problem. Was the pcm a reman or new part? Possibly new pcm is defective or there is a wire worn threw and intermittenly grounding itself. Obviously check all he connections, make sure they are tight. Possible a wire got disloged or not connected properly when pcm was exchanged. good luck

So far I've learned that the dark green wire connects to the PCM and the dark green/orange wire connects to the ASD (Auto Shut Down relay). Now to which terminals do they connect to on the alternator and how do you determine that?

There's only one way. Put a known good PCM in and see if it works better.

the Pcm is located to the front right of the engine compartment under the washer fill tube and to the right of the battery

Tach signal wire is located at the PCM near the connector. Use the manual should there be need for help in locating it.

under the hood driver side above wheel well.

under hood front to the left of the radiator (on drivers side)

Power train Control Module. It is the engine computer.

The timing is controlled by the PCM, there is no adjustable setting.

Well yes you can swap any engine into any vehicle that you choose. Swapping in the neon motor would require the PCM, wire harness, motor, trans, and possibly the key switch ( if your neon had the SKIM anti theft system, unless you go stand alone fuel management and eliminate the stock PCM ). The funny part about this is that Im considering the opposite dropping a chevy 3.1 and 5spd from a 89 cavalier z-24 into my 2001 Plymouth neon. I just think the chevy motor is way more reliable then the the 2.0L.

A 1996 Neon uses the 3sp auto transmission. This transmission does NOT use an electronic control device. It has an internal govenor.

The GM diagram shows the 0.8 brown wire 241 / S107/to IP fuse block/ fuse20On driver's side PPL/WHT1665 to term. 20 on PCM, The TAN/WHT1653 to term. 19 on PCMThe 0.8 BLK150 is GROverall there are two wires to the PCM to read the sensor. One wire to power and one to ground to power the heating element. The repete three more times for the rest.

Usually the problem with this code is an open vent solenoid valve. 12 volts is provided to solenoid and the pcm grounds the solenoid. When the pcm checks the circuit it is looking for 12 volts on the wire at pcm. The pink wire should have 12 volts and the white wire should be the ground circuit from the pcm. Ohm your vent valve it will probably be open.
