Need help to get the Check Engine code from a 94 Oldsmobile 88 What should be done besides take it in?

what you could do is take it to a auto parts store where they have a diagnositc computer that can be hooked up to the plug under the dash on the passanger side. It will spit out code that can be translated into what is probably wrong with the car, once the problem is fixed the check engine like will turn off. Most places do this for free, such as murray's and auto zone
