Yes. Yes you do but the vidmaster achievements i Halo 3 arent the only ones you need to get Halo 3 ODst and there are more you need to do

I am a noob on Halo 3 and I know about the Vidmaster Achievements to get Recon so my question is do the vidmaster things work and second how do you challenge someone with Recon and does that work too?
You don't get recon for the vidmaster achievements. And you don't get Recon challenging someone with it. You need to make an amazing Halo video or win a Bungie competition.
How do you get recon on Halo 3?
Well there are two different ways you can get recon, 1: Complete all the "Vidmaster Challenges" (Achievements) 2: On Bungie Day if you have all the DLC map packs you can play the game type : Bungie vs The World. If you fight and beat a team on bungie staff you will be given recon, even if you lose there is a chance you can still get recon. ex. You have to have Halo 3 ODST in order to complete "Vidmaster Challenges" also you need access to x-box live. Also bungie day comes once a year but i wasent lucky enough to see a bungie person on 2009 bungie day :/ but i am getting vidmasters now and only vidmaster endure left to do(if you want add me on xbox live,AlphaGamer209,i help with vidmasters SOMETIMES but first i need endure)

The only way to have got it is by pre ordering Halo Reach. In other words... it's to late. You can also get it by having a bungie.net account. You need to get some achievements about *vidmaster* from Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST and follow what they tell you for a recon helmet, i don't know if it comes with flames.

Recon armor is a bungie stff only armor. But if you impress them enough they will send you recon. make a really good video, including an undiscovered glitch. just like cone death, the guy who made cone death got recon armor. it isn't to easy to impress bungie, but it's worth a try. or you could complete the rest of the vidmaster acheivments on halo 3 odst. I'v been trying to impress bungie for a while. You have to get the 3 vidmaster achievements in Halo 3 ODST and the 4 vidmaster achievements from Halo 3. You must then make a bungie account and go to your service record. You must have all 7 vidmaster achievements and it will say get my recon now. You don't need to impress bungie at all.

Well There's the Recon Armor but you have to work for Bungie or Win it or Do all the Vidmaster Challenges but you Need XBOX LIVE. Then theres the Bungie Armor and Flaming Recon and Flaming Hayabusa Head Pieces But you have to work at Bungie.
