To disengage the four-wheel drive on a 2000 GMC Jimmy 4x4, locate the four-wheel drive selector switch on the dashboard. Turn the switch to the "2WD" position. If your model has a lever instead of a switch, simply pull the lever back to the 2WD position. It's best to perform this while the vehicle is stopped or moving at low speeds to ensure smooth disengagement.

The GMC Jimmy is rear wheel drive. The only time the front wheels pulled is if it was a 4x4.
pull the steering wheel off with a wheel remover. (spend the money, pick one up if you don't have it.) the switch is accessible from behind the wheel. a small nut holds the switch into place... pull the steering wheel off with a wheel remover.
