Danged belts! One of the most asked about items in this group.
If you don't have a decal somewhere under the hood (mine is on the underside of the hood) and the belt is no longer on the car, you might be able to get one from Auto Zone, as one
of our contributors has suggested. Or, you can go to a GM dealership and ask for a bit of help.
There is no fan belt on a 1999 ZX2; it has an electric cooling fan. Your question is not worded in question format. We need to know which belt you are talking about (serpentine or timing) and what your question is.
According to my Haynes shop manual, it is a chain. FriPilot
just need to know where it is located on car
What is it you need to know about your headlight
First off, you do not have to remove the engine from any vehicle I know of to replace a timing belt. Secondly, your vehicle has a chain, and not a belt.
It is probably not a belt, but rather a chain
I need to know how to remove a rear wheel speed sensor on a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire
My friend, it is important that you get a shop manual for this job, if you are the one to do it. It doesn't take a rocket-scientist but one has to know much about how an engine works and safety. Now, if your'e asking bcuz you are going to do it and kow quite some on the subject, You really need to consult with a shop manual. Your question indicates to me that you have never done this work. So be very careful and good luck. There is no 1991 sunfire, it was the sunbird until 1996. Actually, the Sunbird only went thru '94. The Sunfire showed up for '95. (I know, I own one! :) Well correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the Cavalier/Sunbird/Sunfire had a timing belt I thought they had timing chains. If I remember correctly thru 94 cavalier 4cl has the timing chain and sunbird has a timing belt. 95 and up cavalier/sunfire has a timing chain.
No way to adjust them
We need to know the year, make, model and engine size of the vehicle then we need to know if you want to change the belt tensioner or the belt or both.
how do you know when thermostat is bad in 19997 Pontiac sunfire
The hardware and electrical connector on the alternator that you'll have to remove or loosen is pretty direct. You may, however need more slack in the belt than the alternator's adjuster offers. In this case, find the belt tensioner in the belt path. A wrench or socket will fit on the front of it. Rotate until you get some belt slack, then pull the belt off of the alternator. NOTE! pay attention to the belt routing! If you have a diagram under the hood somewhere, good. If not, make your own sketch so you know how the belt routes. There's a good chance that you'll knock the belt off a couple of pulleys when you do the job. Getting it back on correctly is important. It helps to have another set of hands available to manipulate the belt. FriPilot
