had the problem -- if grease isn't put on it when first assembled, or its been a long time - the trans shaft will start to rust and the c- clip on the shaft will not be able to compress. Only way toi get it off is to cut it -- use a dremel - cut the shat with the dremel at a 90' angle to the cvshaft - make 1 cut alon it -- be careful not to go in too far - then turn the cvshaft 1/4 turn and do another cut - then just before the shaft gets large -- cut across the the 2 new cuts and get a cold chisle drive it between 1 of the fits cuts and the CV shaft should break apart where the cut is -- that takes care of 1/4 - then make new cut - turn shaft 1/2 way around - and with 1/2 the shaft cut away -- it should just pull off-- with a dremel -- it took me about an hour from start to finish-- not bad
With usual tools it's almost impossible to do. You need to get the special cv-joint remover many auto part stores have it. It's about $30-40, I believe.
ankle joint x
Yes. You can very well do that. It is your account and if you no longer wish to be a part of it, you can remove your name from the joint account. All you need to do is, visit the bank and submit a request in writing reg. the same. The bank will take 2-3 days to complete your request and then you will no longer be a joint holder of that account.
Go to the part store and rent or buy ball joint tools and press them out
I'm assuming that you are talking about the front lower ball joint as they are the most common. You remove the tire then remove the axle nut in the center of the rotor it is a should be a 32mm socket. removw the lower ball joint nut, it is a 17mm socket then with a ball hammer hit the metal casing were the ball joint goes through the lower control arm, do not hammer on the ball joint itself! it will change tone when the socket pops. when it pops pick up the assembly by the rotor and remove the lower ball joint arm from the lower control arm and remove the axle from the hub assembly. there is a retainer clip on the lower part of the ball joint that you will need to remove you will need a pair of snapring pliers for this. after removing the snapring you need to hammer the ball joint up and out of the hub. Just do these instructions backwards to install. Good luck If it's the UPPER ball joint, the whole control arm has to be replaced (the ball joint is made into the control arm, and it's non replaceable). Remove cotter pin and nut from ball joint. Get a big, heavy hammer, and hit the spindle as close to the ball joint as possible (you may have to whack it a few times). That will break the ball joint loose from the spindle. Once is loose, remove the bolts that attach the control arm to the body.
u need a press tool like a clamp ask autoz or advance then the fun part holding it together and pressing the ball joint out use some tape after you do 1 its easy
Remove the cotter pin and castellated nut on the ball joint, then use a ball joint separator tool between the ball part and the steering arm and force them apart with a hammer. If you do not have a separator tool, and if you have room you can back the nut to the top of the threads and hit it with a hammer, but this rarely works well. If the nut will not come off because the ball joint is too far gone try an impact wrench first, or if you do not have access to one you will need to secure the ball joint in some strong vice grips from underneath the steering arm ( if its that loos you will probably have room ) I find needle nose vice grips do well on this part.
Join-become part of a group, joint- where 2 items come together, also slang for marijuana cigarette
In the Standard Beetle the ball joints are pressed into the trailing arms. You need a special press tool to replace these. In the Super Beetle the ball joint is part of the lower control arm, you replace the arm when the ball joint is worn out.
depending on which of the joints you want to change jack up the front of the vehicle and secure have some one apply the foot brakes after you remove the wheels and slacken the securing lock nut on the end of the velocity joint, remove the steering end, and the top part of the spindle, and the bottom ball joint remove the lock nut entirely from velocity joint move out spindle and secure release the strap on the inner both rubber and remove the entire drive axle clean and seperate the joint from the axle the instalation procedure is the reverse.
Ball and Socket joint
there are bolts located in the rear and side the ball joint part has to be removed with a ball joint seperator (pickle fork) if it breaks you have to pound out the joint any question contact me at KRAGAR33@AOL.COM
