India the name itself comes from the river Indus or the Sindhu as it was called in Sanskrit. Indus Valley River Civilization was one of the oldest world civilizations. The cities of Harappa and Mohenjodaro are said to be one of the bigger trade centres of their times.
The Aryans who migrated from Caucasus mountains are believed to have destroyed this civilisation and then moved into the Gangetic plains of India.
