When will your dog gain weight after having litter?

The mother of a litter should be given about 3 times the amount of food she was eating before she became pregnant. She should never get emaciated looking. You need to increase her food significantly in order to maintain her correct weight.

Can you use kitty liter for your rabbit?

Kitty litter should not really be used for bunnies. Cat litter tends to be of the "clumping" variety and as bunnies have a tendency to eat their litter they can ingest this only to have it form into a clump in the GI tract. This kind of GI blockage will kill your bunny. It is best to use, newspaper, wood shavings, or paper pulp (such as megazorb or carefresh).

How old do bunnies have to be to have baby's?

You can hold the bunnies carefully after they are "fully furred," which means a sheen of fur all over the body (usually about 4 days old). Do not play with the bunnies or take them away from their mother for extended periods of time. Be very careful because mom may be aggressive and protective so she may bite. For the safety of the baby, you should wait until their eyes are open and they are able to get out of the nest box on their own before playing with them. However, when they are younger, you should pick up at least 1 out of the litter to ensure the good health of the litter. Only 1 person should handle the babies, and you should always be very careful and use slow, steady movements.

What should you put in your rabbits litter box?

For rabbit litter you can use:HayStrawNewspaperAspen chips/shavingsWood stove pellets (the plain kind only, not the kind with accelerant!)Carefresh brandYesterday's News (by Purina)Boxo brandAlso put hay in the box, or in a feeder just above the box. Rabbits like to use the box as they graze, so this will encourage good litter habits and lots of hay eating!Do not useCedar or pine chips/shavings - they may cause kidney diseaseAnything that isn't safe to eat (bunnies often take a nibble of their litter), like:Cat litter (clay litter) - dangerous to eatCorn or wheat-based litters - unhealthy to eat

What do baby bunnies eat at one month old?

well at 18days old the will leave nest and start eating solid foods so really they should be eating the same as a older rabbit would.

You have handled your rabbits they have just been born you have mom and babies in the house together is that a good idea?

It should be okay as long as the mother trusts you, but if you start to notice that your babby bunnies are going missing you may want to take then into your own care she may be eating them to save them :(

Bunnies can eat the branches from apple trees.Ê Bunnies can not eat the leaves from apple trees as the leaves can cause cyanide poisioning.Ê It is probably best to dry out the apple tree branches thouroughly as some bunnies have fallen ill after eating fresh apple twigs.

What age are kittens litter trained?

They say if the mother cat doesn't show them how, that one needs to show the kittens how to use a litter box. Mine didn't show hers and at 6 weeks I took each one and sat them in the litter box and took their front paws and showed them how to scratch in the litter and all it took was that one time and they all used the litter box then.

How should you protect a nest of bunnies with their mom still with them?

Just leave them alone and let nature do what it does. messing with the babies will cause the mother to abandon them.

Can your 3 week old bunny eat uncooked oatmeal?

Yes, they can eat oatmeal, but a 3 week old bunny should still be with it's mother drinking her milk. The baby bunny will eat what the mother is eating also, this is far safer for the baby than giving it anything extra as his GI system will already be getting used to the mothers food. Bunnies should not be away from their mother until at least 8 weeks of age!!
