Blower motor located at the passenger side under the dash. Probably the blower motor but you need to check the blower motor resistor and the plug to the resistor. A common cause is the plug tends to melt & short out.
It is the 30 amp fuse in the passenger compartment fuse block next to the clutch in the Escort which is labeled "Blower".
The blower motor fuse is in the passenger compartment fuse panel underneath the dash on the driver's side. The blower motor fuse is a 30 amp fuse marked BLOWER.
My 97 escort LX sedan has a blower relay located above and to the left of the fuse panel located below the dash next to the door frame. You almost have to be a contortionist to see it since it is located behind the dash panels.
The cover of the fuse block will have the diagram for the circuits.
In the fuse box under the dash on the driver's side next to the kick panel.
If there is current going through the wire to the blower switch, try bypassing the switch with a jumper wire. If the blower motor works, then replace the switch. If the blower motor does not come on, then you probably need to replace the blower motor.
