No check engine light when I start my 2000 B2500 Mazda Truck. Why will it not come on?

Well does the light come on just the key on and not starting?If it does not and the vehicle does not have a running issue I would bet the bulb for that indicator is probably blown.The easiest way to varify that is by removing the dash cluster and pulling the assembly out and check the socket that would light up that to see if the bulb is black or smoked colored meaning it is bad and needs to be changed no big deal.I would go buy the bulb first and advance auto or auto zone will have the bulb you need in a book at the bulbs or just ask them to look it up at the counter and buy the correct bulb.Easy enough.Unless the socket for the bulb is bad(doubt that) or a wiring issue from the ecm (electronic control module) is not registering to make it light up with the key on or when you start the vehicle.Ok

I replaced one on my 2000 Mazda b2500. it's located on top of the differential. You un hook the one wire harness, remove one bolt and pry it out with a screw driver. It's not in there too tight, comes out pretty easy. It fixed my speedometer, ABS light and check engine light. I had to use a mirror fixed above the differential and a flash light to see what I was working on. Or you can just feel for it. You can get the part from autowarehouse.com for about $18, great place for parts. Now mine is a 2000 yr. I don't know if the 1999 would be the same or not. Good luck. By the way, dose anyone know the difficulty factor on changing the spark plugs on this 2000 Mazda b2500 4 cylinder engine? It doesn't look like fun to me.
