If one of the three coils is no longer firing then replace it. It might be a good idea to go ahead and replace all three, if one has gone then the other two might be right behind it and also fail.
If you are not getting spark to any of the plugs could be coil rotor and/or cap HEI ignition?
I believe that one sits under the coil packs.
The spark plug wire should snap into the coil tower. If it does not snap in place it is probably the wrong connector.
Yes - See "Related Questions" below for more about Windstar coilpacksIn addition to the Related Question, inspect the coil for hairline cracks or what's known as carbon tracking - electricity traveling outside the wires going from terminal to terminal.
The COIL HAS A POSITIVE AND A NEGATIVE TERMINAL. If you look at the top of the coil, it is generally marked + and - on the top.
Where is coil located on a 1989 dodge dynasty at
The coils are bolted to the ignition control module, there is no coil wire as such.
Hey Tia== Make sure they are replacing it with the correct coil. Then have them check the voltag going to the coil . It should be about 8 NOT 12volts. It has a resistance wire cutting down the voltage. GoodluckJoe
Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Disconnect the coil wire and capacitor. Using tape mark the position of the plug wires in the cap. Remove the 4 bolts securing the coil pack. Remove the 3 mounting bolts to the bracket and remove. Installation is the reverse of these steps.
You do need a switched live to the bat terminal, but not to the tach terminal. The tach terminal is the negative side of the coil, the bat terminal is the positive side of the coil. Normally the tach terminal is for the green wire from the tach.
To wire the coil in a Mercury Bobcat: The + terminal goes to the "run" prong on the ignition switch. The - terminal goes to the points and condenser. The middle terminal (the one with the fat wire coming out of it) goes to the center post on the distributor. This is how you wire the coil in any car that has points and condenser. The Bobcats that are little construction machines have diesel engines in them, so there's no coil at all.
my 94 has tach machined on the coil mine is a 4.6L
