White Noise
The noise when you pass gas from the rectum is generated by the movement of the gas passing through the anus. The volume of gas and the force with which it is expelled produces the vibrations. Some people learn to control the sphincter muscles and can expel the gas in small volumes thus producing little or no noise at all.
An explosion, or a sound similar to an explosion. Also, slang for sexual intercourse (as a verb).A bang is a sudden loud noise
It is a crunching noise not a creaking sound. This noise occurs when walking/stepping on lying snow/ice because your weight is causing the snow/ice to compact itself therefore making a sound. Also I do not know what you mean by 'old snow'. Hope this helped, :) :L

The problem with the wording in "Startled by the noise, the alarm clock was knocked on the floor" is that it makes it sound like the alarm clock was startled. It would be better written: "Startled by the alarm clock, I knocked it on the floor."
All organisms respond to a stimulus. An example would be being startled by a loud noise. The noise is the stimulus and the reaction is you being startled.
"Startled" is and adjective, "by" is a preposition, "the" is an article, "noise" is a noun acting as the Object of the preposition, "Solly" is a noun - the subject, "spun" is the verb, and "around" is an adverb. FYI, "startled by the noise" is an introductory phrase, so you should put a comma after noise. Hope this helps!

Both examples need commas after their modifiers, as well as some other punctuation that isn't currently allowed in Wiki questions. Other than that, the first example is correct. It implies that you were standing on the chair, which is a reasonable action for you to take when you want to reach something high. The second example is incorrect. It implies that the alarm clock was startled by its own noise. It's more likely that the person who knocked the alarm clock onto the floor was startled. Example #2 correction: Startled by the noise, I (he/she/etc.) knocked the alarm clock onto the floor.
This purring noice occurs when you pet a guinea pig too rough, and like you said, when loud noices such as the telephone or the dog barking startle it. It is basically just a noice it makes when it is startled.
A bang is a sudden loud percussive noise, or a strike upon an object causing that noise.
A loud crash is produced when there is a sudden release of energy, such as the impact of two objects colliding at high speed. The vibration and rapid movement of air molecules generated by the impact create a sudden increase in sound pressure levels, resulting in a loud noise.
