Oil pressure gauge reading low 2000 Chevy Tahoe and i do have enough oil?

I just had similar problem shop said engine was gone but what I did was change the pick up tube/oil strainer inside of oil pan. I had to flush engine first with motorflush. I also had to remove all slude from around oil filrer housing. Truck is rrunning great now.
