I just had similar problem shop said engine was gone but what I did was change the pick up tube/oil strainer inside of oil pan. I had to flush engine first with motorflush. I also had to remove all slude from around oil filrer housing. Truck is rrunning great now.
The oil pressure switch on a 1997 Chevy Tahoe is located on the back of the engine. It is in the center-rear part of the engine.
On a 98 Chevy Tahoe, the transmission fluid pressure switch is located on the valve body. It is found to the right of the engine.
One of the causes for low oil pressure in a Chevy Tahoe could be a clogged or dirty oil filter. Changing the filter may get rid of the problem.
Usually you will not get an accurate oil pressure reading either too high or too low. Occasionally they will leak and pump oil through the switch
