I have a 1995 Aurora too and it runs at 220. I am the second owner and it has always been like this. I think it is running too hot. All my other vehicles have always been under 200.

Around 200 degrees or just above...If it's running hot, you may have a small leak on one of the two radiators in the front. They should only be about $300 parts and labor to replace...

It is clogged and needs replacing or your engine is running very rich and is dumping unburnt fuel into the converter where it is being burnt.
I personally have had good luck with Auto Zone's middle grade Autozone sucks. I have Wagner thermo Quites and they have stopped me from 100 to 0 several times and don't get to hot even at the track.
