check neutral safety switch, or it is possible that a bad ignition switch could cause this...or loose or broken wiring!!
follow the battery + cable from the battery down to the starter post. There you will find a starter.
I found out the answer to my own question: because the battery was almost dead. It probably didn't even need a new starter. check the voltage on your battery before diagnosing a bad starter. sheesh, what's wrong with me.
Your car has a starter solenoid instead of a relay. The solenoid is mounted on the starter. If you are having starting problems make sure that you have checked all battery and ground connections. If it proves bad,I would recommend replacing the starter and solenoid as an assembly on this vehicle to avoid additional problems. Good luck.
Remove the positive cable from your 1992 Chevy Lumina battery. Remove the cables from the front of the starter. Remove the starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new starter.
when in doubt, you can always follow the positive battery cable down to the starter. It will end up there.
Try getting a jump start. Could be a bad battery. If your battery is good, then you will need to get a new starter. It may be the Starter or the battery make be dead,
on drivers side on the side of the engine behind the radiator down low, just follow the positive battery cable from the battery and it will bolt to the starter.
Starter has no voltage or insufficient to turn engine, possibly bad solenoid or something wrong with connections.
Seized engine? Weak or dead battery? Loose or corroded battery cables? Bad starter? Bad starter solenoid? Bad neutral safety switch?
Use battery load tester and properly test battery. When battery fails, replace it.
Had same problem with My 91 Lumina APV. Changed Starter Relay. Haven't had any problems sence.
