Presidential dollar portraits are usually based on painted portraits of them. Whichever way they faced in the original portrait (which may vary by the artist's or the President's own preference) would be followed in the dollar portrait.
The direction in which the portrait of a President faces on US paper money has simply been a matter of artistic preference. There is no specific rule or requirement dictating which way the President should face. Some Presidents face to the left, while others face to the right, depending on the design choice of the Treasury Department and the engraver at the time the note was created.
They weigh more than paper money so they are more difficult to carry around. They cost more to make relative to their face value than paper money relative to its face value ....... If you throw a coin at someone they will say "ouch" when it hits them, if you throw paper money at someone they will say "thanks dude"
You can certainly be forgiven for stealing money from another. You may, however, still have to face criminal penalties.
The former presidents of America both represent the number 1. Abraham Lincoln has his face on the penny which is one cent. George Washington has his face on the one dollar bill. :) Or am I wrong, there is a different answer? : /
There is no special reason for this. The way the presidents face is not determined by any law but is determined by the designer.
thomas Jefferson
Alexander Hamilton is pictured on the 10 dollar bill. He is one of two non-presidents pictured on American money. The other is Ben Franklin.
George Washington is on the 1$ bill and the quarter. it has other faces too and can be found in other countries
The US Presidents that have their face on a coin are George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, John F Kennedy, and Theodore Roosevelt.
The gold standard was a system of money where the government owned and kept an amount of gold that was represented by the paper money issued. Paper money was called gold certificates and originally you could present the paper money and be given the stated face amount of gold for it. People like libertarians and strict constitutionalists supported the system, but the US stopped using it.
