On a 1991 Lexus LS400- the battery the alternator and the starter is new and the problem still persists - it won't crank and when it does I have to step on the gas pedal to get going- the problem?

Test the battery with a digital voltmeter. You should get a reading of 12.6 V if the battery is fully charged. If the battery is fully charged then you know the alternator is functioning properly and your problem is more than likely a defective starter.

Had the same problem. Bought a re-conditioned alternator, turned out it was bad. Usually if battery draining, it's alternator or battery or both.

Battery, starter, starter relay solonoid, or a charging problem i.e. alternator or voltage regulator causing battery to discharge. Or bad battery cable connection or dirty or loose battery cable connections can cause this problem. Need to investigate & narrow it down.
