I have a 1994 Chevy Lumina and it takes 4 quarts of transmission fluid when totally empty.

This is transmission fluid. The leak is at the transmission cooler which may be part of the radiator.

The transmission fluid capacity is 6.9 quarts (it requires Dexron III fluid).
