Check the cam and crank sensors, odds are the coil is not being fired because it is not being told to do so by the ECM, which in turn uses a signal from the cam and crank to determine if the engine is turning over and at what point in the cycle it is in.
I would replace the ignition module in the distributor.
I have replaced the coil and distributor cap.
electronic spark modulator bad.
81 dodge van 250 . I have same prob and have replaced ign module, coil, and distributor pic/up but still have no spark. I traced wire to module from coil and found that I only have prob when ign is on with this wire. looks like I have a dead short on this wire between ign and module as the module controls pulsating spark to coil then to distributor pic/up then to spark plugs. Seems like no spark no go.
sounds like we are having the same type of issue, I replaced ignition Module and coil pack, and still no spark the last thing to change is the Computer.
== == check that you are getting power to the distributor. i am assuming you are talking about a earlier model vehicle Have you checked the ecm relay? maybe the pickup coil assy.
Even though you replaced the coil, it may be bad. You should test that first. If the coil is okay, it could be that the ignition wires need to be replaced.
Pull out a spark plug, rest it on a piece of metal under the hood, have someone crank the engine, and see if it sparks. If not, check for a spark at your ignition coil by doing the same thing. If you still have no spark, check your distributer cap and rotor, they may need replaced, or the whole distributer may need replaced. no.... check the fuel injectors, and the distributor set (or coil packs)
Defective electronic control module.or maybe starter
Weak spark is most commonly caused by a weak ignition coil. The coil needs to be tested and replaced if necessary.
To determine if a 1993 Chevy 305 coil is bad, check for symptoms like engine misfires, rough idling, or difficulty starting. You can also test the coil with a multimeter; measure the primary and secondary resistance according to the specifications in the service manual. If the readings fall outside the specified range or if there is visible damage, the coil is likely faulty. Additionally, if you notice a weak or absent spark when testing with a spark tester, the coil may need replacement.
