On a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 when it is put into 4 wheel drive what would make the front wheels lock up when making a turn?

I'm sure a Chevy owner or mechanic will give you a much better answer, but for now: I know that on an old late-'80s Tercel, this can happen when the 4-wheel drive is not fully engaged. On those you can sometimes undo the problem temporarily by cranking the wheel back while simultaneously shifting back into 2x4 (at a standstill, of course.)
