On a 1994 camaro is it possible for a bad gas cap or an oxygen sensor going bad trigger the engine service light It only comes on it seems when your dad lets off the gas and lets the car coast?

The codes can be pulled to make sure but I would quess the O2 sensor may be weak. absolutely, i had the same problem. Bad gas cap a few years ago caused my car to fail emissions. Replaced it and no more problems. Also your egr valve willl do the same thing.
