On a map of average annual temperature why are the lower latitudes so much warmer than the higher latitudes?
Hurricanes form in warm tropical waters and the conditions aren't right in higher northern latitudes because the temperature of the water is cold.
The annual mean temperature at the South Pole in winter is -76 °F (-60 °C) and -18 °F (-28.2 °C) in summer. The annual mean temperature at the North Pole is -40 °F (-40 °C) in winter and 32 °F (0 °C) in summer. Note that the average elevation of Antarctica is considerably higher than the Arctic, so the temperatures are expected to be much lower.
Between 150 and 300 inches depending on elevation. At Marquett Mountain ski resort the annual average is 210 inches.
colder
Latitudes farther from the equator have higher numbers. The equator is 'zero' latitude, and the poles are 90 degrees north and south.

Temperature refers to the average kinetic energy of a suubstance. The higher the average kinetic energy, the higher the temperature.
The average temperature of Farmington, Michigan is 47.93* F. This is higher than the Michigan average temperature of 46.64* F.

Density variations of seawater with latitude are very similar to those for temperature variations with latitude. Because of the influence of temperature on seawater density, low latitudes exhibit lower densities at the surface that rapidly increase with depth. Higher latitudes exhibit little or no difference in density owing to the lack of a thermocline. Such a rapid change in density with depth is called a pycnocline, and like a thermocline is absent at higher latitudes.

The measured temperature of Venus is, on average, much higher than that of earth.
It could be that Mumbai is nearer to the equator.
Pretty much the entire country is a desert, with the annual evaporation rate higher than the average annual rainfall.

colder
Because the waters are heated throughout the whole year and not just in the summer as at higher latitudes.
