i don't know much about Mercedes but i would probably check the freon in your air system.
Under the dash, pass side, inside the HVAC housing.
There is no button under the dash for the air conditioning. All the buttons are located on the panel. The relay is in the power distribution box.
because when moving it is sucking a lot more air from outside. try turning the circulation button on and see if that helps.

Mine sounded like a large lizzard was in the airbag compartment and it's tail was hitting the sides. This had something to do with the AC motor so I was told by Pontiac service. I took it in today for the same reason.
The AC works much better when the air re-circulation button is on.

Under the dash on the passenger side to the right of the glove box is a air suspension and fuel cut of switch. It will say which button each is for.
on my 98 sienna there is a button on the left side of the dash lower part with a push button not sure if it is in the same place on all models hope that helps
