If you have a heat pump it will be on the thermostat, if the thermostat for some reason has been changed to manually wire up emergency heat , remove the thermostat after you kill the power and connect the red wire too the green and white wire then turn the power on, you will have heat.
Thermostat wiring can be hooked up by following the colors of the wires. Each thermostat comes with color coded wires that are the same colors as the thermostat already in place in the home. Hook each wire to its colored wire.
1st thing to do is turn off power to unit. if you dont do this you risk of burning up the transformer.. all thermostat wires are color coded. if you can pull the old thermostat off and match them to the new thermostat it shouldnt be a problem hopefully the tecnician who installed the unit hooked it up right but the color code should be this- R is RED that is your power wire 24v Y is YELLOW that is your cooling wire W is WHITE that is for your heat G is GREEN that is your operating the fan Those 4 are for straight heat and cool.. if you have a heat pump there will be an aditional wires which is- O is ORANGE wire that is for the reversing vavle some units also have a common wire and that is the BLUE wire.. That would be attached to the C terminal on a stat..
Dont connect the common wire.
Never assume that any electric wire, no matter what color it has, is safe to touch.
you run the power wire to the thermostat on the wall then you run a wire to the 1st heater and then you run another wire from the 1st heater to the 2nd heater and hook red on red and black on black with wiring mariette's in the heaters junction box on left or right side which ever is more suitable for you and then you go to the wall thermostat and hook red on red and black on black with the wiring mariette's and then you hook your power wire to the power supply which is 100 or 200 amp service and on a double 20 breaker and the wire has to be no smaller than 12/2 wire. also do not forget to hook the ground wire (bare copper) on the green screw on your heater and in the thermostat box and then on the power supply box..... now you can turn up your thermostat and enjoy the heat ...........LEE48

Use what is called bell wire or thermostat wire.
first of all you buy a double pole unit thermostat which should come with the mounting plate and thermostat and it should have 4 wires 2 red 2 black okay now you join the red to the red power wire and black to the black power wire and the 2 remaining wires which should be a red and black can be joined to the red and black wires on your heater .....now you should be good to go ............LEE48
