I was told it was a bad BCM. Whatever that is? A BCM stands for Body control Module. It controls the guages. Try for an inexpensive one. I dont know about installation, but you could take the part and your vehicle to your mechanic to have it installed and still saved money.

Can a digital odometer be adjusted?

Its not illegal to change the digital odometer on a car. Any digital odometer can be program. I can program a digital odometer from the oldest to the newest cars. Some cars I need to have them with me, but most can be sent over the mail. Go to All cars have either an eeprom or a microcontroller that saves it in memory. You only need to know how to program the chip or the processor and what memory to change, what to change it to. Its not cheap equipment and software, but to have it done is cheap. Changing a digital odometer is not illegal, making profit off of it or not disclosing that it has been changed is illegal. I'm pretty sure that's illegal

How do you hack a digital odometer?

Generally on a digital odometer the mileage is stored in an eeprom chip, this chip can be reprogrammed provided you have the right tools. However you should be able to take your odometer cluster out and disassemble it to get to the eeprom chip - not an easy task for everybody. Many Companies will also "recalibrate" your odometer and charge a fee for the service. Machines and reprogrammers for doing this are available in China at various prices. It goes without saying that reprogramming a digital odometer is illegal in most, but not all cases.

How do i lower a digital odometer?

Mostly all the vehicles that I have worked on with a digital odometer cannot be lowered. Their is an actual manual odometer that reads to the engine computer that sends digital readout to the odometer, that cannot be reset or changed if you were to try to it would disable the vehicle and would need to be taken to the manufacturer garage for service to reset computer but would still give old odometer reading. If the computer were to come out of another car the odometer still wouldn't change. Government is very very strict with odometers these days. I disagree with above that digital odometers "can't" be tampered with, indeed they can provided the right hardware/software is available, many digital odometers can be manipulated through a connection made on the cars diagnostic plug or through connections made to the instrument panel cluster. A search of the internet will show up many companies that sell hardware/software to do digital odometers

Is the odemeter connected to the fuse box?

Odometer Fuse Box RelationshipThat depends on the type of odometer. For example, a mechanical odometer which is driven by a mechanical cable will NOT have any connection to the fuse box OTHER than for lighting, IF the odometer has a light inside of it.On the other hand, if the odometer is of the digital electronic type, it will, in a remote manner, be connected to a fuse which is usually a fuse designated for the "Instrument Panel." In this case, the digital odometer is usually built into/on the Instrument Panel Printed Circuit Board [PCB], and thus will be connected to the fuse box via the PCB wiring harness.

Why would the digital odometer and RPM meter work intermittently in a 1997 Sebring JX Convertible?

The problem is in the instrument cluster. It needs to be checked out. This is a very common problem with these cars as they age. I have seen a number of them where the odometer was blank and/or working intermittently together with the tachometer. The only reliable solution is to get a new one from a dealer. not trying to make anybody mad but i have the same problem if you take out the cluster then pull off the cardboard from the back there is a small blue resistor it will have a burnt spot where they are you or some one you know could clean it and re solder the contacts i did it and it worked great now hardly any cost to you i hope this works for you Robert
