This can be as simple as your wiper blades are worn out (they get stiff over time and won't hug the glass) or as technical as a wiper arm problem.
First, I'd check that the wiper arm moves freely up and away from the glass and I'd move it up and down several times. Note, you should feel spring tension as you move it down towards the glass. Most times moving it back and forth frees-up any bind that may be in the arm.
While you're doing this, make sure your wiper blades pivot and move on the end of the wiper arm. They should move very freely. Also check to make sure that they're simply not super cold, frozen and stiff. This is common during the winter and often frozen and stiff blades will miss parts of the windshield.
Lastly, wiper blades effectively work for 6-12 months. If your wiper blades are older than that and all of the above seems fine, you probably just need new wiper blades.

Yes I had the same problem. Mine was caused by my wife slamming the rear window and slightly bending the small bar attached to the rear window. I removed this and bent it back. then adjusted it to close.
