Appalled, horrified, amazed at the cruelty of man. The liberation of the camps in Germany in 1945 was, as above, horrifying. the startling fact was that the Russians had already 'liberated' camps in Poland in 1944. Astoundingly they said nothing about them. The idea of extermination on this scale was undrempt of: it is sad to say the first example of a concentration camp is in the Boer war in South Africa, by the British, at the turn of the 20th century.

I'm most hurt because of the things which were done in the name of science. So called "doctors" performed awful experiments on people. I know lot of people died and the guards were responsible for some but its the scientists who designed the gas chambers and did the experiments that really make me sad. Disappointed in people who should have known better I guess. It happened in the past now and the best we can do it to remember those who died and never let it happen again, Beachamp and bioethics are born from the lessons learnt in the concentration camps. So the memory can be used to help the future.

the concentration camps sound very tough, the conditions that they put them though sounds unbearable and the way they treated them: early mornings, prisoners getting whipped and beaten just because they are not strong or tough enough for them. the food they gave them as well must of been so boring to have the same things everyday i don't blame them for eating grass and roots just to keep their selves alive. plus when they are dead the way they treat them after they have died: stacking them, then taking them away in a truck in enormous masses then they were graves of burned in the crematorium!

I'm glad I'm alive now' instead of then!
