Others seem to level up quickly while it takes ages for me to. I realized killing every enemy gives about 5xp. How do you get a good amount of xp in borderlands 2 to level up?

If you want to level up faster, make sure the enemies you are killing are the same or higher level then you, this will grant you more experience per kill. Killing bosses can give large amounts of experience as well.
