replace head, head gasket, and head bolts.
try a radiator cap......or you have a head gasket leak.
Not a good idea to add water. You should add an engine coolant available from any auto parts store. You should never remove the radiator cap when engine is hot! Wait until the engine has cooled down then remove cap. Fill radiator with engine coolant, replace cap and then refill coolant reservoir. That procedure will get you to a garage where they will find out why it overheated in the first place.

On the 2.8L V6 the distributor cap is held on with two screws. Unscrew the two screws and pull straight up on the distributor cap to remove it from the distributor.
Remove the center console/cupholder. Remove the interior doghouse. Remove distributor cap.
all u need to do is go to your local parts store and buy a new one
Remove the pins that are in the back of the body, and remove the screws. That should loosen up the rear enough to remove the cap
