One of your ventilators is likely clogged. Download a tool to monitor the CPU and computer case temperature, like this [http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/page/download_overclock] or this [http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php one]. The case temperature (the lower of the two measured temperatures) shouldn't be above 40 C, the max CPU temperature for your CPU, you can find on the following page:

It sounds like it could be a rust build up on the backing plate. best to have it checked out.
You might hear loud squeaking noises. jack up the front end and try to wiggle the wheel. if it wiggles then it could be the bearing. You could be hearing a grinding noise also.

If the ticking/grinding noise is coming fron the front of the car, it is probably a CV joint going bad. Outer CV joints will click as they wear out, and if that goes on long enough they will start grinding as the joint basically chews itself up.
