The HDMI cable connection allows my Sony BR6 Bravia remote to Play DVDs without any adjustment or codes being input because the signal enters by the television's remote connection and then through the PS3 slim HDMI connection. It would not be possible without the PS3 being the new Slim model and the connection being made with HDMI cables and may only work with Sony Bravia sync. The other method is that the PS3 remote must be a Bluetooth device like the controllers and other PS3 accessories are to be received by the PS3.
