The HDMI cable connection allows my Sony BR6 Bravia remote to Play DVDs without any adjustment or codes being input because the signal enters by the television's remote connection and then through the PS3 slim HDMI connection. It would not be possible without the PS3 being the new Slim model and the connection being made with HDMI cables and may only work with Sony Bravia sync. The other method is that the PS3 remote must be a Bluetooth device like the controllers and other PS3 accessories are to be received by the PS3.

I can not sync my Cable remote to do anything on the PS3 even though I can get it to work some features for the Home Theater and HDTV If you want to sync the PS3 optional remote you need to plug it in to the PS3 with the charging cable to get it to sync with the PS3
