Prospective veterinarians must have good manual dexterity. They should have an affinity for animals and the ability to get along with their owners, especially pet owners, who usually have strong bonds with their pets. Veterinarians who intend to go into private practice should possess excellent communication and business skills, because they will need to manage their practice and employees successfully and to promote, market, and sell their services.

What character/qualities do vets have to have? Do they have to be polite, motivated, or independent or compassionate for animals? How long do you have to go to school? What kind of training do you have to have? In the following paragraphs these qualities will be in bold. This person would have to be polite, because when clients come in with their animals, you should be polite so that they would want to come back if their animal were to get hurt again. Also you should have motivation, because if you're not motivated, then you would not want to come back to work everyday. You should also have independence, if you don't have it then someone could take your work or you could follow in the wrong footsteps and not do the right thing. You should most definitely have compassion for animals because if an animal is hurt the you should treat the animal owners, especially when working with pet owners, who tend to form a strong bond with their pet. To become a veterinarian you would have to go to school for at least 8 years. Four years in college plus another four more years in veterinary medicine school. To gain additional experience its recommended that students participate in an internship program with a vet clinic. Before you actually become vet you have to get a license. That license requires you to have 3.8GPA in high school, a doctors license and a medical license. I have chosen this to be my profession because it is something different and i really love animals and really love to take care of them. In conclusion you need to polite motivated, independent, and compassionate. These personally are my best characteristics.

How do you get a grub out of a chipmonk?

As a non-veterinarian, you should do nothing to the grub - take your chipmonk to a veterinarian for treatment. The veterinarian will probably apply some local anesthetic and (depending upon the temperment of the chipmonk) also some sedative, then use sterilized forceps to pull the grub out. The grub needs to be examined by a veterinarian to see if it is a foreign disease that has to be reported to APHIS.
