An advantage is that plastic does not shatter, is transparent and lightweight. It can also be reused and made into things such as carpets, fleece jackets, and sleeping bag filling. Unfortunately, plastic takes forever to break down and can be hazardous to the environment.

Advantages -

1. They are really cheap

2. Easy to carry around

3. You can draw all kinds of funny pictures on the side of the bag

4. Can be used as a barf bag.

Disadvantages -

1. They rip easily

2. They tend to fall apart when they get wet.

3. They don't really keep your food cool (unless you get the cold sak kind)

Advantage: They can be recycled or composted if there is no ink printing on them.

Disadvantage: Their manufacture (from trees) uses up a lot of energy and resources.

Reusable fabric bags are preferable to paper or plastic bags.
