That depends on what year it is. 1957-1971: 883cc 1972-1985: 1,000cc 1986-1987: 883cc & 1,100cc 1988-2010: 883cc & 1,200cc It should be noted that all Sportsters of all years and all displacements have the same stroke, 3-13/16", only the bore differs.
On a 1986-2003 there is a drain hose. Look under the motor and there is a rubber hose with a worm clamp on it, it attaches to a bung on the frame. Loosen the clamp and remove the hose from the bung.
