depends on what year.. if it is a TPI motor.. then there is the VATS system.. with the VATS system.. you need the correct key to start the vehicle.. or it will not start at all.. no matter what method you use..
How do you reset the anti theft on a 96 pontiac grand am? Ok, please follow this very closely. Turn the key on to the on position. Just far enough as to not start your car. You will see anti-theft system flashing. Let it flash for about 10 min. When it quits flashing, remove the key and let it set for about a minute or two. Put the key in the ignitiion and attempt to start. It should work. This worked for me.
i replaced the fuel pump and now my theft system wont work
The factory system is not one "box". The engine computer and body computer work together to provide the theft alarm functions.
It's done with the "Transponder Key", it has a code that is used to unlock the anti theft. If you have a second key, try it. If you don't, the dealer will reset the system to work with a different key.
it is the anti theft. lock all the doors the unlock the door with the key. try with passenger door too. if this does not work it is some other problem with your anti theft system.
There is no way to bypass the anti-theft system in the cadillacs. The keys are encoded with a special chip. Without that chip, the car will If the chip has any major or severe cuts or damage, it too can cause the car to activate the anti-theft. In order to resume use of your cadillac, you must wait a time length of 15 mins - to almost 1 hr. Usually if the anti-theft is on, the display countsdown the time you will have to wait before you can restart the vehicle. If this doesn't work, your car will require service from the dealership.
Just reset the radio presets and clock. If the radio has an anti-theft system you will need the code to get the radio to work again.
The theft deterrent system will not work.
I have a 1997 Grand Am Gt and as of 2 days ago the car was towed home and parked. Went through the same thing a year ago with the theft system causing my car not to start. You can try the 10 minutes on and off thing 3 times but it doesn't work. The only option is making Pontiac more richer. In my case, I'm ready to torch the darn car, I have dumped way to much money in it to have it leave me stranded on a yearly basis. You could try finding an acc. fuse for the system whether in the fuse block or in line. The alarm runs through the ignition and the brake pedal.
There is a piece of sticker in the glove compartment with some number. That's the one you need to enter on the radio button. one question, did you take out the battery cable? Because every time you do, you need to enter that password for the radio system and the anti-theft system to work... My brother got a 1999 Honda accord, hope this help you.
Yes
Install a new BCM. The BCM may or may not allow the car to start before you enable the anti-theft by setting a passlock value. If it doesn't you might have to choose between allowing the anti-theft to work normally and having a car that runs.
